Americans on the ACA this Election Season

As November looms overhead with the 2016 Presidential election, new issues continue to arise—namely, the afterthought of the importance of health care for Americans.

While Americans rank health care at #4 in their list of top issues surrounding this election, the opinions between Democrats and Republicans still remain divided, primarily with regard to the Affordable Care Act.

Democrats lean more on the side of the ACA, as 30% want to expand it, while 14% feel it should continue as is.
Conversely, 32% of Republicans want to repeal the ACA, with 32% wanting to scale back on it.

It’s a back and forth fueled by the Presidential candidates, but why is health care taking such a backseat? In 2012, health care ranked #2 on the list of top issues surrounding the election.

Perhaps with such issues as ISIS, gun control, global warming, and the controversies surrounding the Presidential nominees, the topic of health care loses its importance in the growing arguments.

However, for those who need constant care for either themselves or their families, it’s a factor that will never go away.
