Have Questions Regarding Mental Health Coverage under the ACA? New FAQs May Help

The U.S. Treasury Department, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Labor (DOL), has released new FAQs pertaining to mental health. The FAQs About Mental Health And Substance Use Disorder Parity Implementation And The 21st Century Cures Act Part 38 is dated June 16.

The crux of the FAQs involves the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 and coverage for mental health related issues, such as addictions and eating disorders.

The FAQs also request comments and seek more insight into handling improvements for disclosure, including model forms addressing various medical criteria. Feedback should be provided by September 13, 2017.
