Almost 137,300 consumers selected Affordable Care Act plans on the federal health insurance exchange during the 10th week of open enrollment,the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced Jan. 28. Total sign ups topped 7.29 million since the enrollment began Nov. 15, 2014.
The most recent report, which covers the period of Jan. 16 to Jan. 23, also included signup statistics for the 37 states that refer their residents to the HealthCare.gov website. These are detailed below.
Nearly 307,000 applications were submitted online in the latest week, bringing the total to 9.75 million applications submitted since enrollment opened.
The HealthCare.gov site was visited by more than 2.6 million consumers during the week, for a total 22.9 million since enrolment opened. This compares to 125,500 during the week for the Spanish- language CuidadodeSalude.gov site and a total 888,000 since enrolment opened.
More than 686,000 consumers contacted the call center during the most recent week. They waited an average 20 second on hold. Callers seeking a Spanish-speaking representative waited about 6 seconds.
More than 517,500 visitors used the HealthCare.gov “window shopping” tool during the week to explore coverage options available to them. More than 18,000 window-shopped CuidadodeSalud.gov.
HHS releases weekly snapshots preliminary data drawn from the federal exchange, HealthCare.gov or CuidadodeSalud.gov, and callers to the federal call center at 800-318-2596.
