Week 14 Snapshot: 40,000 More Selected Plans

Although the open enrolment period ended Feb. 15, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) continued to accept applications between Feb. 16 and Feb. 22 from consumers who had experienced technical issues with the sign-up process.

An additional 40,714 of these consumers selected plans and nearly 232,000 submitted applications. Total sign ups since enrollment began Nov. 15, 2014, were 8,838,291. The total number applications submitted was 12,410,323.

The HealthCare.gov site was visited by more than 2 million consumers during the week, for a total 33.8 million since enrollment opened. This compares to more than 49,000 during the week for the Spanish-language CuidadodeSalude.gov site, and a total more than 1.3 million since enrollment opened.

Nearly a million consumers contacted the call center during the post-enrollment week. They waited for an average of nearly eight and a half minutes on hold. Callers seeking a Spanish-speaking representative waited about 19 seconds.

More than 172,000 visitors used the HealthCare.gov “window shopping” tool during the week to explore coverage options available to them. More than 6,000 window-shopped
