Access to Mental Health Care Strengthened

Low-income Americans will have greater access to mental health and substance abuse treatments under a new rule proposed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The proposal applies provisions of an existing law, the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity of available online, ensures that all beneficiaries who receive services through managed care organizations or under alternative benefit plans have access to mental and substance use disorder benefits regardless of whether services are provided through the managed care organization or another service delivery system.
